India is home to a number of majestic animals apart from the tiger such as the elephant and the rhino. In numerous national parks across the country, in jeeps or on elephant back, you will be treated to memorable experiences in the wild.
Corbett
In the foothills of the Himalayas lies the first national park of India, Corbett. The tiger population is the highest in this vast national park that is also home to several other animals including elephants. A visit to Corbett national park may also be combined with Rishikesh, the holy town on the banks of the Ganges.
Nagarhole
Apart from the animals, the lush green tropical rainforest along the river Kabini will surprise you. A visit to Mysore with its beautiful palace and to Belur & Halebid with their stone-carved temples can also be combined with a visit to Nagarhole.
Periyar
The huge Periyar lake is not only home to herds of elephants, but also to numerous species of birds. Discover spice plantations or the temple town of Madurai on your visit to Periyar National park.
Chitwan
Chitwan National park in Nepal is also home to the one-horn rhino. You may also visit the charming city Kathmandu and the beautiful landscapes of Pokhara, when you travel to Chitwan.
Kaziranga
Kaziranga National park lies in the eastern Indian state of Assam, also known for its tea plantations. Kaziranga is one of the few national parks in India that are home to the one-horm rhinocerous. A visit to Darjeeling with beautiful views of the Kanchenjunga can also be combined with a visit to Kaziranga.
Sundebans
One of the most unexplored regions of India are the Sunderbans in the delta spanning India and Bangladesh. On boat rides through the waterways and from watch towers in the jungle, you will experience a unique natural habitat amongst mangrove forest.
